Glass spec — decorative glass, leaded effects and triple glazing add £80–£250.

Hardware — chrome and brushed satin handles are standard; antique brass and graphite add £40–£120.

Cylinder — we always recommend upgrading to a 3-star anti-snap cylinder, typically +£60.

Frame colour — standard white frames are cheapest; coloured or woodgrain frames add £80–£150.

Opening type — outward-opening doors and stable doors cost more than standard inward.

Doors quoted under £900 fitted are almost always uPVC with a composite skin glued on. Real composite doors have a solid timber/foam core and 44mm minimum slab.

Quotes that exclude making-good (plastering, sealing, decorating). Easy to underquote, then charge £200 on the day.

1-star cylinders supplied as standard. Standard on cheap quotes, removed by burglars in under 30 seconds.

No insurance-backed guarantee. A 10-year guarantee from a company that may not exist in 3 years is worthless.
