The work we do in Northampton
Northampton is a large former shoemaking town that doubled in size as a planned new town from the late 1960s.
Northampton has two very different housing types. The Victorian bay-fronted terraces of Abington and Kingsthorpe usually need careful bay replacements and a door that suits a period front. The 1970s new-town estates tend to need wide picture windows replaced, along with the panels beneath them.
Long Victorian terraces in Abington, Semilong and Kingsthorpe, many with bay fronts, then 1970s and 1980s new-town estates in the Eastern and Southern districts such as Lings, Thorplands and East Hunsbury.
New-town houses from the 1970s often have wide picture windows and timber-clad panels below them. We price the infill panel at survey so there are no surprises on the day.
Northampton has a number of conservation areas, including parts of the Boot and Shoe Quarter and Abington, where front windows may need to match the original style.
