Tilt & Turn Windows Leicester
Inward-opening uPVC tilt and turn windows fitted across Leicester and the East Midlands. Ideal for flats, first-floor bedrooms and any room where you'd rather not lean out of a window with a cloth in your hand.

How tilt and turn actually works
A tilt and turn window uses a single handle with two positions. Turn the handle 90° and the sash opens inwards like a door — this is the "turn" mode, used for cleaning and fire escape. Turn the handle 180° (all the way up) and the sash tilts inward at the top by about 100mm — the "tilt" mode, used for background ventilation you can leave overnight in bad weather.
The gearing is engineered so the handle physically cannot switch modes while open — you close the sash first, then choose the next mode. That's why they're common on upper-floor flats: no risk of the sash being pushed the wrong direction by wind or by children.
When we recommend them
- First and second-floor flats — clean the outside from inside
- Upstairs bedrooms used as fire-escape rooms (Part B compliance)
- Rooms where a standard casement would open outwards over a footpath
- Kitchens where you want secure overnight ventilation
- Any window where a cleaner would need scaffolding or a ladder
When a standard casement is better value
Ground-floor rooms with no cleaning-access issue and no fire-escape requirement don't usually need the extra hardware cost. We'll tell you honestly on the survey which rooms genuinely benefit and which don't.
