What a good uPVC window looks like from the inside out

Most of the uPVC window work we do in Leicester is second generation replacement. The frames going out were fitted somewhere between 1998 and 2010, the glass has lost its argon, the gaskets have gone hard and the handles have started to need a shove. Bay-fronted Victorian and Edwardian terraces dominate areas like Clarendon Park and Highfields, while the suburbs (Knighton, Evington, Aylestone) are largely 1920s–1950s semis with original timber frames now reaching end of life. Five and six chamber profiles with galvanised steel reinforcement in the outer frame and every opening sash, welded corners rather than mechanical joints, and internal beading so the glass cannot be removed from outside.
