Where flush is worth the extra and where it is not

We survey a lot of flush casement work in LE1–LE5 on properties where only the front is being changed. That is a sensible way to spend, and it works as long as the profile, the colour and the bar layout are chosen with the whole elevation in mind rather than window by window. How we specify flush casement windows here

A dedicated flush profile where the opening sash closes into the frame rather than over it, giving a single flat plane outside. It is a different extrusion, not a standard casement with trim added. The same shootbolt locking and reinforced keeps as a standard casement, with the lock geometry adjusted for the flush closing face so the compression is even along the sash.
