What happens on fitting day

We arrive at the time agreed, lay dust sheets and protect the floor and hallway. The old door and frame come out, the opening is cleaned back and checked for square, and any damaged plaster or brick at the reveal is made good. The new frame is packed, fixed into the brickwork and checked with a level before the door is hung.

Once the door is hung we adjust the hinges and keeps so the multi point lock throws smoothly, then seal the frame with silicone inside and out. We run through the keys, the locking sequence and simple care with you, take the old door away and leave the area clean. A single door normally takes 3 to 5 hours.

Which door suits which job

Composite doors, from £1,099 fully fitted, have a solid core and are the usual choice for a front door where security and a heavier feel matter. uPVC doors, at £799 fully fitted, suit back doors, side doors and budgets where a sound, low maintenance door is the aim. French doors start from £1,499 and sliding patio doors from £1,395 for openings onto the garden.

At the survey we measure the opening, check the threshold and ask how the door is used, whether it needs level access, a letter plate, side panels or extra glass. The fixed written quote then shows the door, the hardware and everything included, so there are no extras on the day.
