Who bay and bow windows genuinely suit, and who they do not
- Bay fronted Victorian terraces and 1930s semis, which is a very large share of local housing
- Front rooms where the bay is the defining feature of the elevation
- Properties where a previous replacement has sagged or dropped at the head
- Square, splayed and curved bow arrangements up to five facets
- If the original bay is doing structural work, the replacement must be propped properly, and a quote that does not mention support is a warning sign
- Roof and sill detailing above and below the bay is where water gets in, so it should be part of the quote
- It is one job, not four windows, and pricing it per window usually means something has been left out
