Where double glazing work well on Loughborough homes

    • Any home replacing single glazing or failed early sealed units
    • Whole house upgrades where budget has to cover every opening
    • Homes where the trade off between weight, cost and performance matters
    • Fitted across Loughborough (LE11–LE12) and the surrounding Shelthorpe, Nanpantan, Hathern by our own team.
    • A sealed unit is a consumable with a life, typically fifteen to twenty years, and misting means the seal has gone rather than the window being dirty
    • Cheap units use an aluminium spacer that cold bridges the edge of the glass and produces corner condensation

What is actually inside a sealed unit

Double glazing in Loughborough is mostly a replacement market now rather than a first fit market. A real mix: Edwardian villas around the Park Road area, 1930s semis in Shelthorpe, and newer estates in Nanpantan with PVCu-from-new windows now hitting their 20-year replacement window. The units coming out are typically fifteen to twenty five years old, and the giveaway is not always misting, it is a cold pane and a room that will not hold temperature after dark.

How we specify double glazing here

Two panes separated by a warm edge spacer bar, argon filled, with a low emissivity coating on the inner face of the outer pane that reflects room heat back inside. Laminated options on accessible openings, internally beaded so the unit cannot be lifted out from the street, and toughened glass where the regulations require it near doors and low sills.

    • A-rated units with warm edge spacer and argon fill as standard
    • Laminated glass available on every ground floor opening
    • Sealed unit guarantee covered within the 10 year insurance-backed cover
    • The from price of £450 fitted includes A-rated double glazing. Upgrading glass within a double glazed unit, to acoustic or solar control, is normally a modest addition rather than a step change.
