How we specify tilt and turn windows here
A heavier duty European hardware set carried inside the frame, with the whole sash hung on a geared mechanism. The frame is reinforced beyond casement standard because the sash weight is carried on a different axis. Tilt position locks the sash to the frame at multiple points while leaving a narrow gap at the head, so a room can be ventilated overnight without leaving an openable sash. Full turn position uses the same shootbolts as a casement.
- Geared European hardware with the tilt restrictor set on installation
- Cleanable from inside on any floor, which removes the ladder question entirely
- Laminated glass option on accessible openings, standard multi point locking
- Expect a premium over a like sized casement because of the hardware. On a first floor front bedroom it usually pays for itself in the first cleaning season.
