RAL 7016
Anthracite Grey Doors & Windows
The single most-quoted colour in Leicestershire — and for good reason.
About Anthracite Grey
Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016) is the default 'modern' choice for both composite doors and PVCu casements right now. It reads as near-black against red brick, but warms slightly against render or pale stone, which is why it works on both Victorian terraces in Clarendon Park and new-build estates in Hamilton without looking out of place.
Roughly 6 in 10 of our composite-door quotes specify anthracite on the outside, and around 4 in 10 of those choose white internally — a 'dual-colour' spec that costs the same as solid anthracite from us but is often charged extra by national brands.
Choosing Anthracite Grey — what to know
Best suited to
- 1930s semis with red brick
- Render-fronted modern detached
- South-facing elevations where pure black gets too hot
Pairings
Sits beautifully against light-grey render, sandstone reveals, anthracite gutters, or aged-brass house numbers. Avoid on heavy cream render — the contrast looks cold.
Hardware that works
Brushed graphite or matt-black handles, hinges and letterplate. Chrome will look 'undone'; brass needs to be aged/antique to work.
Pricing
Standard — no surcharge over white on most ranges we fit.
From our installers
Foiled anthracite surfaces show fingerprints and water-spots more than white in the first month. A wipe with mild soap and a microfibre during install hand-over is enough; we never use solvents.
