Foiled woodgrain
Irish Oak Doors & Windows
Lighter woodgrain — the modern alternative to Rosewood.
About Irish Oak
Irish Oak is a warmer, lighter woodgrain foil developed as a more contemporary alternative to Rosewood. It works particularly well on cottages, on properties with sandstone reveals, and anywhere a 'natural oak' finish is wanted without the maintenance of real timber.
We fit Irish Oak heavily in Quorn, Mountsorrel and the granite belt north of Leicester, where stone reveals make a lighter warm tone read more naturally than the deeper Rosewood.
Choosing Irish Oak — what to know

- Stone-faced cottages
- Bungalows with low elevations
- Properties on heritage streets that don't qualify for full conservation status
Pairings
Honey-coloured stone, sandstone lintels, warm-grey roofs. Avoid alongside cool greys.
Hardware that works
Antique brass or polished chrome both work; black handles look surprisingly modern against the warmth.
Pricing
Premium colour — typically +£80–£120 per opening.
From our installers
Irish Oak's foil grain is shallower than Rosewood and easier to wipe clean. We rate it as the lowest-maintenance woodgrain we fit.

Why choose a woodgrain foil
Irish oak gives the look of timber without the painting. The woodgrain foil is wiped clean like any other uPVC surface, which is why it is a popular choice on older homes where the owners want a traditional look with low upkeep.
It is available on our windows from £450 fitted and our doors, often with white on the inside to keep rooms bright.
