Foiled woodgrain
Rosewood Woodgrain Doors & Windows
The classic UK woodgrain — still the default 'warm' choice.
About Rosewood Woodgrain
Rosewood foil has been a UK glazing staple since the late 1980s — a deep reddish-brown woodgrain that reads as 'mahogany' from the street. It remains the most popular like-for-like replacement when homeowners are matching an existing PVCu spec.
We fit a lot of Rosewood across older 1990s estates in Wigston, Birstall and Glenfield, where mixing colours within a row of similar properties draws unwanted attention from the street.
Choosing Rosewood Woodgrain — what to know
Best suited to
- Like-for-like replacements
- 1990s/2000s estate homes
- Properties where the rest of the row is already woodgrain
Pairings
Cream-painted brick, magnolia render, tan-effect roof tiles. Sits poorly next to grey window frames.
Hardware that works
Polished gold or antique brass — Rosewood loses character with chrome or black.
Pricing
Modest surcharge on most casement ranges; standard on Tenby composite doors.
From our installers
Older Rosewood frames from the 90s have faded slightly toward orange — modern foils carry better UV inhibitors and stay truer to brown. We'll bring both samples so you know what to expect.

Rosewood on replacement windows
Rosewood is a rich reddish-brown woodgrain that often replaces old stained timber frames, keeping the same look from the street. With white inside, rooms still feel light.
Windows start from £450 fitted, and rosewood doors are available in uPVC from £799 and composite from £1,099.
